This is your Helm, the center of attention pertaining to navigation and the other systems.

Your Long Range Scanner is linked to the Navigation system to provide coordinates so you can reach your destination.

Your Short Range Scanner is required to chart all stars within 1000 light-years.

After a solar system has been charted, you can display the configuration in the Solar System Display. You can even observe the orbital patterns and orbital speeds. Accelerated of course. With the planetary labels on, you can receive information about the star and planets.

Your Ship Status display will show you the current readiness of the major systems.

The Power System Display is available for your fine tuning of power utilization.

Your Galactic Chart is also linked to your navigation systems, providing coordinates to your destination.

 

The Galactic Chart can be filtered to reveal All Stars... only solar systems or only solar systems with class M planets. Additionally, it can be filtered to show the previous stars the have only been charted.
